Our guides usually send you to the palaces. This one sends you to a house, because it answers the question we hear most at the boutique from May to October: where do we stay if we want Saint-Tropez without the traffic, and the sea without the beach clubs?
The answer, this year, is a new villa at the entrance of the village, on the Gassin side, inside a private domaine of eight houses with its own sandy beach a hundred metres from the gate. It is the kind of address that almost no longer gets built on the gulf: single-level, stone and glass, a heated 12 × 6 m pool facing the water, four bedroom suites on the main floor and a fifth below, delivered new and complete.
Run like a hotel
It is let under the French para-hôtellerie regime, which in plain terms means the rent includes what a hotel would give you: a personal welcome at the house, breakfast delivered every morning, housekeeping (daily in July and August) and fresh linen twice a week. Eight guests, from €7,500 a week in low season, Saturday to Saturday in summer. There is a booking calendar on the villa's own site, and the owners answer within 24 hours.
The day from there
Seven minutes to the port and Sénéquier's red chairs, twenty by bicycle along the gulf; the Place des Lices market on Tuesday and Saturday; Pampelonne and its clubs fifteen minutes away when you want the scene, and your own beach when you don't. Five Michelin-starred tables within ten minutes, and the perched village of Gassin and its golf course five minutes up the hill.

The villa can also be acquired through its operating company; price on application, by sales enquiry on the site. For a buyer who wants a house that already earns its keep in summer, it is one of the more interesting new addresses on the peninsula this year.
