Beyond the beach clubs of Pampelonne, the Saint-Tropez peninsula still has beaches in their natural state: umbrella pines, sculpted rocks and crystal-clear water. These are the three wild beaches in Saint-Tropez we love most, and where you are most likely to swim alongside the locals.
1. Plage de l'Escalet, Ramatuelle
A string of small rocky coves and sandy inlets of wild, natural beauty. Walk along the coastal path to find your own spot, and continue towards Cap Taillat for one of the most spectacular views on the coast.
2. Plage des Salins
The locals' favourite: a long natural beach shaded by pines, calm and authentic, around 15 minutes from the village. The coastal path runs right past it, and the protected wetland of the Marais des Salins lies close by.
3. Plage des Graniers
A small cove just below the Citadel, about ten minutes' walk from the port. Surprisingly wild for somewhere so close to town, and perfect for an early-morning swim.
